As a mission driven company, Clean Slate actively promotes the fair trade and sustainable development agendas. To this effect, we will be encouraging schools to adopt an Ethical Purchasing Policy in regards to their uniform and supplies purchasing.
The DFES consultation paper Sustainable Schools-For Pupils, Communities and the Environment lays out the strategy on how to become a sustainable school and as part of the action plan, the DFES is calling on:
"...all schools to be models of resource efficiency, using low impact goods that minimise (or eliminate) disposable packaging from local suppliers with high environmental and ethical standards, and recycling, repairing and reusing as much as possible."
As an ethical uniform supplier, we are encouraging schools to implement an Ethical Purchasing Policy which takes into account the working conditions and environmental impact of the school uniforms and supplies they use.
